Jägermaestros Fundraiser / St Andrew's Church Dearnley / Town Hall / Rochdale Football Club

On 15th April 2016, Wardle Academy held a fundraiser event wiith the Jägermaestros Oompah band which was raising money for Wardle Academy Youth Band's trip to the Europeans in Lille, and for the Wardle Anderson Band. All members of each band thoroughly enjoyed the night, and by bringing their friends and parents we were able to raise enough for both bands. On behalf of Wardle Anderson Band, we would like to thank everybody that helped out and contributed to making the night a success.

On 23rd April, the band were invited to perform the National Anthem at Rochdale Town Hall for St George's Day. Later on in the day the band were then invited to play at St Andrew's Church in Dearnley to celebrate St George's Day. The turnout was great, and the concert ended with the audience on their feet and joining in with "Land of Hope and Glory" and the Natonal Anthem.

On 24th April, the band were invited to play the French National Anthem for a rugby match held at Rochdale Football Club. This was a great opportunity for some of the Youth Band members as they were travelling to France the week after to compete in the Europeans.

On 14th May the band played another concert at St James' Calderbrook, which was the start of a busy weekend for the band.

The next day, the band travelled to Royton for two marches. The first of which was from St Paul's Church, followed by a short break at The Summit Inn. In the afternoon, the band marched from St James' Church in Royton, playing popular marches and a few hymns to finish off the day.

On 28th May, the band played a few pieces at Littleborough Conservative Club as a surprise for Robyn's 18th birthday. Robyn is a percussionist in Wardle Anderson Brass, and is also part of a folk group. All the members of the band enjoyed the night, and Robyn loved the surprise.

On 5th June, the band took part in a short march in Oldham.

On 10th June, the band played at St Barnabas Church in Littleborough as a celebration of the Queen's official birthday. The band had never performed here before this concert, and so it was fantastic to see such a supportive audience. This was one of the band's best concerts yet.

Rochdale Football Club carolling/St James Church, Calderbrook Concert/St James Church, Milnrow Concert

A few members of the band played some Christmas carols at half time at Rochdale Football Club.

The concert at St James Church, Calderbrook was a fantastic night as always. Here's a few photo's from the night.

Our final concert of the year was at St James, Milnrow. It was a brilliant night with some exceptional soloists. A special well done has to be made to Jane Conway for winning the bands woman of the year award and to Sam Hodson for winning the player of the year.

Well that's us done for 2016! We've had a brilliant year with some fantastic concerts & a great result at the Brass Band Championships back in February as the band just continues to grow. We can't wait for what 2017 will bring & hope that the band, its supporters and everyone else has a brilliant Christmas & New Year!
